Day One, Part 2 - Paya Beach Resort
Little boy complained of being hungry once arriving so we went over to the nearby coffee shop and eyed the Ramly burger stall..honestly i have NEVER eaten a ramly burger in my life since when i was young i never even heard of such a thing and when I got older and saw the stalls i was fraked out by the amount of oil and butter the gleefully slattered. besides, I always bypassed the stalls RIGHT after meals, so it would be an ultimate guilt trip to do so.. but hey, this was for lunch so.. ok lor..
and honestly it's just OK... =)
wenjie suggested going for jungle trekking (?!!) to find a "waterfall" to swim in. HA! we walked for quite awhile and found a smallish rockfall with tons of spider webs strewn across and look suspiciously like the Brunei landscape that nearly doomed my detail as we struggled to walk along the river bed to our checkpoints. initially i couldn't believe that was the so called lauded waterfall as said in brochures so we pushed on a white-and-red tape marked trail up the hill to try and find a "waterfall".. after realising it was turning more and more into somewhat of a stiflingly hot, mosquito-plagued navex.. we turned back and just took pictures at the "rockfall". -_-
after the misaventure at the rockfall, we decided to stick to the beaches and explore them fully. we were delighted to find a sandbar from the beach linking to a small island out in the sea that was only slightly submerged due to high tide and allowed for a safe and relaxing swim around the beach of the small island. was very cool relaxing in the shallow waters, soaking up the sun and attempting to swim normally with goggles. one thing i quickly realised about swimming in salt water was that it SUCKED. i kept rising up to spit out salty water and after awhile my nose was like stinging.. but oh well.. diff experience and the weather, nice waves, idyllic location largely compensated for that. very beautiful beach.
night was mainly eating a unexpectedly sumptuous dinner then exploring the rest of the small beaches and finally going to the jetty to enjoy the sea breeze and temperatures dipped...
hmm. will update soon... forgetting stuff liao
